PRICING
Thinking about purchasing a vehicle through regular auto auctions?
The final price (total sum) is calculated based on the following charges.
- The vehicle price is the price the vehicle was purchased for at auction, and does NOT include 5% consumption tax.
Our FOB charges include our commission, translation services, pre and post auction inspections, auction purchase fees, storage charges (up to
a certain number of days depending on the storage yard involved), customs clearance charges, documentation charges, and a portion of the transportation charges.
The fees covered by our FOB charges are as follows:
- Auction purchase fee - This is a fee paid to the auction hall upon successful purchase of a vehicle at auction. This fee, which averages approximately Yen 10,000, is included in our FOB charges.
- Customs clearance charge - This is a fee required to clear a vehicle through customs upon shipment from Japan. This fee of around Yen 15,000 is included in our FOB charges.
- Documentation charge - This is a handling fee required to transfer the ownership of the vehicle and to declare that the vehicle is to be exported from Japan. This fee of around Yen 2,000 is included in our FOB charges.
- Transport Charge - Yen 3,000 of the inland transportation charge to transport the vehicle from the auction hall where the vehicle was purchased to the specified port of shipment is covered in our FOB charges. The remaining amount will be charged as "Extra Transport Charges" as indicated in the next section.
- Documentation Postal fee - Documents such as Bills of Lading, Invoices, Vehicle Registration Certificates and the like will be posted to our customers using DHL after shipment of the vehicle/s. This fee is also included in our FOB charges.
- Our commission - This covers our pre-auction inspections, post-auction inspections, as well as our translation and general customer services available 24 hours a day. Digital images of purchased vehicles will also be provided together with any other requested details of the vehicles during our post-auction inspection.
- The extra transportation charges refers to the portion of the transportation costs not covered by our FOB Charges. As Yen 3,000 of this transportation cost is covered within our FOB charges, the remaining amount will be charged as "Extra Transport Charges". For the Extra Transport Charge fees, please click here.
- All vehicle registered in Japan have what is known as the Recycle Ticket attached with its registration documents. This is an amount of money deposited with the Japanese government authority (Japan Automobile Recycling Promotion Center) for the purpose of recycling vehicles under the Japanese Automotive Recycle Law, and is paid by the owner of the vehicle upon registration and at subsequent change of ownership. When a vehicle is purchased at the auction hall, the buyer (in this case Auto Square) must pay the auction hall this recycle ticket fee (please note that this amount is not charged to our customers). Therefore a handling charge of Yen 3,000 is charged for the handling and fees involved for the application for refund of this recycle ticket fee.
- The extra shipping charge is a charge which is accrued when stevedoring charges or any other charges are charged at the time of shipment. In the case of shipment to Vladivostok (Russia) by RoRo vessel, stevedorage charge will always be accrued hence a fixed charge of Yen 5,000 is charged for shipment of ordinary passenger vehicles. Accordingly, higher stevedorage charges will be charged for vehicles of a larger size such as trucks. Similarly higher fees may be charged for the shipment of damaged vehicles. In case of shipment of vehicles by container, extra fees will be required for vanning, lashing and securing of vehicles inside the container. Please click here for the extra fees involved.
- Ocean Freight is a charge accrued at the time of shipment. Depending on the port of destination, the ocean freight can either be paid at the arriving port upon the arrival of the vehicle, or prepaid to the shipping company upon the vehicle's departure from Japan.
